What is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive resurfacing facial that mechanically exfoliates the outermost layer of skin. A diamond-tipped applicator passes over the face while gentle vacuum suction lifts away dead cells and debris, leaving a smoother, brighter surface.

Sessions take 30 to 45 minutes with no downtime. Most clients leave with softer texture and a noticeable glow the same day. Over a series of treatments, regular sessions can help fade superficial dark spots and minimise the look of fine lines and enlarged pores.

This treatment helps reduce:

Fine lines and wrinkles

Acne scars and blemishes

Hyperpigmentation and sunspots

Enlarged pores

Benefits

What microdermabrasion can do for your skin

Mechanical exfoliation reaches more than a daily cleanser ever will. Here's what regular sessions typically improve:

Smoother texture, brighter tone

Removing dead surface cells lifts dullness and evens out the feel of your skin within one session.

Softer fine lines

Repeated exfoliation can soften the look of superficial fine lines over a series of sessions. Deeper wrinkles need a different treatment.

Cleaner, less visible pores

Vacuum suction lifts debris from clogged pores so they look smaller and trap less buildup between visits.

Faded superficial dark spots

Surface-level discoloration from sun, scarring, or post-acne marks gradually lifts with regular treatments.

Better skincare absorption

Freshly exfoliated skin lets serums and moisturizers reach deeper layers, so your home routine works harder.

Safe for most skin types

Non-invasive and adjustable in intensity. Not recommended during active acne breakouts, rosacea flares, or while on Accutane.

Treatment Process

What happens during your session

A four-step protocol that takes about 30 to 45 minutes and lets you leave with refreshed, glowing skin.

1

Skin assessment and cleanse

Your esthetician checks your skin, talks through your concerns, and removes makeup and surface oils.

5 to 10 minutes
2

Diamond-tip exfoliation

A diamond-tipped wand passes over the skin in light strokes, lifting dead cells from the outermost layer.

15 to 20 minutes
3

Vacuum suction

Gentle suction follows each pass to draw out debris from pores and boost circulation in the treated area.

10 to 15 minutes
4

Serum, moisturizer, SPF

Freshly exfoliated skin absorbs the finishing serum and moisturizer best. SPF is essential before you leave.

No Downtime

Return to normal activities immediately after treatment

Who microdermabrasion helps most

It works best for surface-level concerns. If you recognise any of these, you're a good candidate:

Dull, uneven tone

Brings back the brightness daily cleansing alone can't reach.

Superficial fine lines

Softens the look of early lines from sun exposure and dryness.

Post-acne marks

Smooths surface texture and gradually fades shallow scarring.

Enlarged or clogged pores

Vacuum suction lifts trapped debris so pores look cleaner and finer.

Hyperpigmentation

Fades superficial sun damage and dark patches over a series.

Rough, bumpy texture

Mechanical exfoliation evens out the feel of dry or congested skin.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about microdermabrasion

What it feels like, who shouldn't have it, and how to plan a series. If something isn't covered, call or message us.

No. Most clients describe it as a light scratching sensation, similar to a cat's tongue on the skin. There's no anaesthetic involved and most people find it relaxing once they're a few minutes in.

30 to 45 minutes from cleanse to finishing SPF. You can come on a lunch break and head straight back to work or other plans.

No. Skin may look slightly pink for a few hours, like a mild flush, but it fades the same day. Makeup is fine afterwards, though many clients prefer to skip it for the first 24 hours.

Plan on 4 to 6 sessions spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart for visible cumulative results, then maintain with one session every 2 to 3 months. You'll see the first improvement after session one, but cumulative changes show up after a few visits.

It works for most skin types and tones. We adjust intensity based on your skin, sensitivity, and recent product use. It's not recommended during active acne, rosacea flares, recent sunburn, or while on Accutane.

Microdermabrasion pairs well with chemical peels and LED light therapy, but the order and spacing matters. We'll plan a schedule that gets you the best result without irritating your skin.

Smoother texture and a brighter look are noticeable after the first session. Bigger changes like fading dark spots or softer fine lines start to show after 2 to 3 sessions.

Mild and short-lived. Some pinkness, slight sensitivity, or dryness for 24 to 48 hours. Apply moisturizer, daily SPF, and skip exfoliants and retinoids for a few days.

Why Choose Anagenesis for Microdermabrasion
Why choose us

Microdermabrasion done well, by people who do it weekly

Resurfacing depth and pressure are subjective. The difference between a flat, irritated result and a glowing one comes down to the hands holding the wand.

Licensed estheticians

Certified, experienced, and trained to read your skin in real time. Pressure and stroke length adjust as the session progresses, so you leave glowing and not irritated.

Skin-first assessment

Every session starts with a look at your skin and a question about what's changed since last time. The treatment intensity is set for the day, not a default protocol.

Diamond-tip technology

We use a professional diamond-tipped wand with adjustable vacuum suction, which gives a more even result than older crystal systems and is cleaner between clients.

Pre and post care guidance

You leave with a written aftercare plan and a clear answer on when to book the next session. Questions in between are welcome by phone or message.
